This is the key. Trump voters are motivated by selfishness. "What do you do for me and the specific people I care about?" This is not the property of an ethnic demographic, but of a mindset.

It does not matter that people who were like you generations ago are having their families ripped apart-so long as your portfolio is doing well. It doesn't matter that republicans are shredding the social safety net for the entire country, so long as they met with you.

This is privilege. We so often see it as "white privilege", because it's most common amongst whites, but it's really able to be seen in anyone that expects politicians to cater to their whims at the expense of others.
